Visual and performing arts have always been a part of Chantal’s life. A native of Montreal, she graduated from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), with a bachelor’s degree in Art History (minors in theater and visual arts) in 1997. Chantal earned a Masters degree in Art Conservation from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario in 2000. She interned at the Museum of Fine Arts in Montreal and the Costume Institute at the Metropolitain Museum of Art in NY. She held post graduate positions with Judith Eisenberg Textile Conservation( N.Y.), the Centre de Conservation du Quebec (Quebec City, QC), the Williamstown Art Conservation Center (Williamstown, MA), the National Gallery of Art (Washington, D.C.), and the Carnegie Museum of Art (Pittsburgh, PA). She worked at the Carnegie Museum of Art as a paintings conservator from 2007-2018. She founded Fine Art Conservation Services LLC. in 2007 with her husband Michael and together they have worked on an extensive variety of objects and collections.
Chantal is an Associate member of the American Institute for Conservation, a member of Western Association for Art Conservation (WAAC) and the Young Preservationists Association of Pittsburgh (YPA)
Michael is a native of Philadelphia and attended the Art School of Temple University (Philadelphia, PA), obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts focused in sculpture and a minor in art history. Michael pursued apprenticeship training in art conservation at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology (Philadelphia, PA), the Israel Antiquities Authority (Jerusalem, Israel) and the Philadelphia Museum of Art (Philadelphia, PA). He earned a Masters in Art Conservation from Queen’s University (Kingston, ON) in 2001 and has held advanced training positions at the Museum of Modern Art (NY), the Williamstown Art Conservation Center (Williamstown, MA)and the National Gallery of Art (Washington, D.C.). Michael worked as the Objects Conservator at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh from 2006 to 2018 and Head of Objects Conservation at the Intermuseum Conservation Association in Cleveland, OH from 2018 to 2020.
Michael is a Professional Associate of the American Institute of Conservation. He now works for Fine Art Conservation Services LLC. with his wife Chantal.
